Talor Battle hit a huge three-point shot to tie the game in the final moments, but Temple wasn’t to be denied.

The Nittany Lions watched in horror as Juan Fernandez hit an awkward, leaning jump shot with less than a second to play.

Battle finished with 23 points to lead the Nittany Lions, but it was a sad way for his college career to come to an end.

For Penn State fans, it’s now time to turn their attention to spring practice for football.

The Penn State Nittany Lions’ stirring postseason run ended Thursday in heartbreaking fashion.

Talor Battle’s fifth 3-pointer of the game tied the score, but Temple’s Juan Fernandez sank the game-winning shot with 0.4 seconds left, handing the Nittany Lions a bitter 66-64 loss in the NCAA tournament.

Penn State, the 10th seed in the West regional, reached the Big Ten Conference championship game last week for the first time, falling to top-ranked Ohio State.

Battle finished with 23 points. Tim Frazier added 15 points.

Temple moves on to face San Diego State in the third round on Saturday. Penn State finishes its season at 19-15.

The Penn State Nittany Lions fell short in the Big Ten championship game in a 70-61 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Talor Battle lead the way with 24 points, five rebounds and two assists but didn’t get much help from his backcourt mate.

The good news for Penn State is that their Big Ten tournament run was enough to get them into the NCAA tournament.

The Nittany Lions were given a No. 10 seed and a tough first-round matchup against the Temple Owls.

This could potentially rival Penn State’s recent win over Wisconsin for one of the ugliest defensive battles of the year.

Penn State has been on the outside looking in as far as the NCAA tournament is concerned, but the victory puts them right in the middle of the conversation.

This game quite possibly set basketball back about 30 years and lead many to joke, “when does the second half start?”

The Nittany Lions took a 20-16 lead into halftime and managed to hold on for the win. They did not get any points from their bench players.

Only two players finished in double figures in scoring, both of whom were from Wisconsin.

The Nittany Lions trailed by eight at the half and eventually fell behind by 15 points with still 10 minutes to play in the game.

Penn State was coming off a big win over Wisconsin, but inconsistency has been the story of their season.

Only a fifth of the usually orange-clad arena was filled for the game as a potent winter storm hit the area.

Penn State was trailing by six points in the final minute and driving down the field for the game-winning score when a pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown.

It was an ugly day for quarterback Matt McGloin, who tossed five interceptions but still didn’t get pulled from the game.

He did throw for 211 yards and a touchdown, but the team might have been better off turning to former starter Robert Bolden.

Penn State outgained the Gators and probably outplayed them, but the turnovers were just a killer.
